Museums

MacBride Museum
Located only 2 blocks from the Edgewater Hotel, it boasts a half city block of history. Exhibits illustrate the fascinating people and groundbreaking events that shaped Canada’s Yukon. Pan for Klondike gold, visit a 1898 saloon, and discover the real Sam McGee.

Yukon Beringia Interpretive Centre
The lost sub-continent of Beringia dates back to the last great ice age. It was a land of ice, giant mammals and the First People of North America. Highlights of the Centre include the reconstruction of the largest woolly mammoth ever recovered in North America, a real mammoth tusk and the remains of a 26,000 year oldYukon horse.

The Yukon Transportation Museum
Experience big, impressive modes of transportation– dramatic, authentic, and personal stories of Yukon ingenuity & self-sufficiency. The Yukon Transportation Museum is home to CF-CPY, a restored DC-3 on a pedestal, the world’s largest weathervane.

The Old Log Church Museum
Experience Yukon’s spirited history within one of the oldest buildings in Whitehorse. Carry away a sense of the passion, conviction and determination of the early pioneers and missionaries who helped shape Yukon’s story.

The Miles Canyon Historic Railway
Preserves Yukon railway and mining history. Hotel guests have convenient access to the scenic trolley while chatting with informative staff. The Copperbelt Railway and Mining Museum is located on the Alaska Highway heading just north of Whitehorse and offers Loki rides and mining history.

Hiking Trails

Waterfront & Millenium Trail
The scenic Yukon River waterfront has a beautiful walking trail for people to enjoy. The entire trail is about a 5km loop, at a leisurely walk it would take about 4 hours.

Miles Canyon
Just a short drive from downtown is a beautiful viewpoint of the Yukon River and Miles Canyon. At Miles Canyon you can walk beautiful riverside trails and cross the river using the suspension bridge which was built in 1922.

Grey Mountain
Grey Mountain is the most prominent mountain overlooking the city. It is popular due to its easy accessibility and proximity to the city. You can hike the subalpine slopes, when you reach the alpine ridge enjoy the impressive views.

Takhini Hot Springs
Enjoy a hot soak at the local hot springs, located just outside of Whitehorse down the Takhini Road.

Yukon Wildlife Preserve
Guaranteed wildlife at this unique wildlife preserve. At the preserve there is over 10 species of northern Canadian mammals in their natural environment. Encompassing over 700 acres with various natural habitats, the Yukon Wildlife Preserve offers unparalleled wildlife viewing and photo opportunities.
